The body of the SOR TNB 18 articulated trolley bus is devised from the fully low-floor NB 18 bus, i.e. steering, articulation, and axles are identical with this bus.
TNB 18 Škoda
The electric installations are unified with TNB12 Škoda - compressor, motor cooling, vehicle battery, collector, Haltex air dryer and others are identical with TNB12 Škoda. Specifically, the compressor of the 1822 model range from Tibbis proved good for the application in trolley buses. The power collectors of TSS 5.7 Lekov proved good as well.
The drive is similar as for the installation but it is dimensioned for an articulated trolley bus. The vehicle is driven by a brand new six-terminal motor, 2 ML3846 K/6, of the nominal output of 250 kW, the SJ 4.3 relevant roof unit with a traction converter is located on the roof of the vehicle together with the BWD 138 resistor from the company of Heine Resistors GmbH.
The low service weight of 16 t and the almost ideal distribution of this weight among the individual axles allow the vehicle to transport up to 166 passengers, out of which 50 seated ones. Seats for people with limited mobility and a place for a person in a wheelchair come as a matter of course.
TNB 18 Cegelec
The electric installations come from the Cegelec company.
The vehicle is driven by the proven six-terminal TAM 1056 C6B Pragoimex motor of the nominal output of 250 kW. The CAC 201NF traction converter based on IGBT transistors is located on the roof of the vehicle together with the resistor, R9P04B500 MEP Postřelmov. The TSS 5.1 collectors are identical with TNB12 Cegelec. The source of the compressed air is a finned rotary compressor of the 1215 model range supplied by Tibbis. Also this vehicle features the low noise level in the interior and outside, too.
The spacious interior with 51 seats, out of which 5 folding ones, offers place for 161 passengers. Seats for people with limited mobility and a place for a person in a wheelchair come as a matter of course.
